Janauri Dam

Janauri Dam is situated at village Janauri in the Kandi area of Hoshiarpur about 26 Kms from Hoshiarpur city. It has a beautiful lake. The visitors could enjoy the green scenic beauty of the dam, feel the cool breeze and explore the nature. Visitors should not get down to the water reservoir as it is very dangerous. The visitors should also keep the discipline and keep the place clean. The garbage should be disposed of properly or the visitors should take back the garbage (disposals, wrappers, etc.) along with them.

Visitors can reach Janauri via Hariana from Hoshiarpur. You have to take a turn towards Janauri-Dholwaha road from Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road at Hariana ( 10 Km from Hoshiarpur).

Dholwaha Dam

Dholwaha Dam is situated at village Dholwaha in the Kandi area of Hoshiarpur about 30 Kms from Hoshiarpur city. It has a beautiful lake. The visitors could enjoy the scenic beauty of Dholwaha dam, feel the cool breeze and explore the nature. Visitors should not get down to the water reservoir as it is very dangerous. The visitors should also keep the discipline and keep the place clean. The garbage should be disposed of properly or the visitors should take back the garbage (disposals, wrappers, etc.) along with them.

Visitors can reach Dholwaha via Hariana from Hoshiarpur. You have to take a turn towards Janauri-Dholwaha road from Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road at Hariana ( 15 Km from Hoshiarpur). You can also reach Dholwaha from Dosarhka. Dosarhka is situated at about 23 Km from Hoshiarpur on Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road. You have to take a turn from Dosarhka towards Dholwaha.

Check Dams in the foothills of Shivalik range of Mountains

The Punjab Irrigation Department constructed various Check Dams in the foothills of Shivalik  range of Mountains in the Kandi area of Hoshiarpur district. The water flowing from the glaciers of Himalayas is collected in the reservoirs of these dams and utilised for irrigational purposes. These Check dams have also provided a protection shield for the areas on western side from floods in rainy season.

The scenic beauty of these Check Dams attract the tourists for a pleasurable outing. But, the admission to some of these dams are restricted because of the indiscipline of the tourists. Some youths drowned at Dholwaha Dam when they broke rules and getū into the water reservoir of the Dam. Some similar incidents also happened at other dams. So, the authorities decided to restrict admission to the dams.

But, the visitors can enter the dams with permission and promise of maintaining discipline. The names and the details about these dams is given below.
